G-SCRUB Review: A 25-Year Golfer Puts It to the Test

We put G-SCRUB in the hands of Marc Heyman of Niche Golf, a golfer of more than 25 years. What he tested on shoes, clubs and grips, and what he thought.
Anyone can say their golf cleaner works. We wanted to hear it from someone who knows the game, so we put G-SCRUB to the test with Marc Heyman, an 11-handicap golfer with more than 25 years in the game. Marc founded Niche Golf to review the smaller golf products that are hard to find good information on. We asked for his honest opinion, positive or negative. His bottom line: "every product I used from G-SCRUB worked great."
G-SCRUB sent Marc these products at no cost. The opinions are his.
Golf shoes: about a minute a pair
Marc started with pairs he had rarely cleaned, which is a fair test. Foam on, brush it in, wipe it off with a towel. He says the job took about a minute.
Clubs: a few drops in the grooves
He used a few drops of Golf Club Foam Cleaner on his irons, brushed the grooves for a few seconds and wiped them down. He repeated it on many clubs, found it easy to apply and reports irons free of debris.
Grips: spray and wipe
Golf Grip Cleaner got the simplest routine of the three: spray the grip, then wipe it with a clean, dry towel. Marc found it very easy to use and noticed the difference in how the grips looked.
Which kit fits which golfer
- Cares most about clean shoes: the Shoe Foam + Fresh Mint kit, a foam cleaner and a shoe odor spray.
- Cares most about clubs and grips: the Club Foam + Grip kit. It never touches a shoe.
- Wants all of it in one bag: the Complete 7-Piece kit. Marc did not review this set as a whole, but it includes the shoe, club and grip cleaners he used.
Which one to give as a gift
If you know what bothers them, pick that kit: shoes or clubs and grips. If you do not, the Complete 7-Piece is the safe choice because it covers everything Marc tested.
